Brixton Sabre were well represented at the Celtic Challenge held on July 27th and 28th in Truro. This competition is between the Celtic Nations of Cornwall, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Galicia, Asturias, Brittany and the Isle of Man and takes place every two years.
Ceri and Marc represented Brixton Sabre, and fenced for Wales and Ireland respectively. Both were seeded in the top 10 after two rounds of poules with both going out in the Quarter Finals. Ceri lost a very close fight 9-10 to Keith Rogerson (Cornwall), while Marc lost to Alan Jupp (also Cornwall) 4-10 who went on to take silver. GB Sabre Coach Jon Selfield took the individual gold. In the final standings Ceri finished 5th and Marc finished 7th overall.
The team competition and the coveted Dragon Trophy was won by Wales who were 10 points ahead of Cornwall, with Ireland taking 3rd place just 18 points behind.
