Ceri came 5th overall in the British Veterans National Sabre Championships in Nottingham last weekend. It’s one of the three selection events for the GB team and Ceri’s result placed him second in his age group and right on track for selection. With a field of 52 entries, across four age groups, there were two rounds of poules. Ceri didn’t drop a fight in either poule, ranking 5th overall going into the DE. After a bye and two good wins he lost very narrowley 9-10 in the semi-finals to Rubin Nash. Duncan Rowlands, who had fenced with us all on the previous Tuesday, picked up bronze overall and first place in Ceri’s age group. Well done lads. And well done us – we prepared them well 🙂
