The ‘Try-before-you-buy’ sessions are designed to put the emphasis on the ‘Try’ and to give people a real feel for sabre fencing and the club.

You’ll do the warm-up with us and join in the footwork session – you’ll be sweaty by then!

Then we’ll show you all the gear and fit you out for an introductory lesson.

This takes the form of showing you the basic movements, hits and defence and because sabre fencing is a one-to-one sport this is all done individually, even though it’s a group session.

It gives you a good feel for what it’ll be like!

All in all you’ll be ‘trying’ different aspects of sabre fencing until about 9.00pm.

Usually people like to stay (and you’re very welcome) to watch electric sabre fencing ‘til the session ends at 9.30pm.

It’s a good chance to ask further questions. And if you’ve time please come and meet us all over a drink in Pop Brixton after.

We'll be amazed if you don’t enjoy the night – almost everyone does with most ending up joining the Beginners’ Course (starts on Jan 28th).

When you arrive no need to queue - just tell reception you’re here for the fencing and they’ll let you straight in – we’re downstairs.

There are good changing rooms and showers upstairs (and a swimming pool if you fancy). We start at 7.30pm.

Please wear tracksuit bottoms, trainers and a T-shirt.

The ‘Try-before-you-buy’ session costs £10 each. However you effectively get this back if you sign on for the Beginners’ course.

The £10 is deducted from the price of the Beginners’ Course which is £90 - so you only pay £80.
